Integrated Development Cluster – West of the State of Bahia
The West Cluster of Bahia, with an area of 46,078.7 km² and a population of 244,616 inhabitants, represents today one of the greatest development clusters of the agro-industrial complex in the grassland areas, having as its economic axis grain production. In this scenario we highlight soy beans farming, fruit farming, coffee farming, cotton farming and cattle farming.
As a result of the natural resources and competitive advantages which drive its sphere of influence, the West Cluster of Bahia, formed by the municipalities of Barreiras, Correntina, Luis Eduardo Magalhães, Riachão das Neves, Santa Maria da Vitória and São Desidério, has other potentials which attract increasing investments of the government and private investors, internal and external, such as: expansion of irrigation and of the agro-industrial complex installed; good quality and low cost arable land for production of rice, sweet corn, soy beans, coffee and cotton; supply of grains and meat for human and industrial consumption; advanced technology for processing of grains, coffee and cotton; labor available and organized rural producers; large water basin, with 32 perennial rivers, flowing towards the Rio Grande.
Access to the Cluster is via regular air and road transport services, with an airport and paved roads interconnecting the different locations.
The Cluster also has a well-structured bank network and diverse telecommunications services, including mobile telephone services, TV station and AM and FM radio.
There is also a flat landscape, which enables mechanization and areas which are ideal for irrigation.
Complementary activities linked to production and sale of machinery, equipment and implements, production and retail of inputs in general and those related to industrialization of grains, processing of cotton such as textile plants and industries, warehouses, transport companies and trade corporations.
Several other business appear, for provision of specialized consulting services, project offices, water, soil and leaf analysis laboratories, mechanized patrols, labor, trade and other companies.
Auxiliary activities provide opportunities for hotels, restaurants and leisure infrastructure.
Tourism Cluster – Discovery Coast
The Discovery Coast Pole, located in the south of Bahia, encompasses 08 municipalities, benefiting 267 thousand people, corresponding to the resident population.
It is on the Discovery coast that Brazil’s history begins, with the arrival of Cabral in 1500 and the first mass held at Coroa Vermelha, between the cities of Porto Seguro and Santa Cruz Cabrália. It is also here that the concepts of history, “Brazilianness” and “Tropicalism” (popular cultural movements) come together, integrating Bahia and all of Brazil in the details of its origins and the natural beauty of the environment.
With its historic cultural and natural wealth, represented by the diversity of ecosystems and an extensive coast, the meso-region brings together conditions to offer the international tourist market a range of special high-quality products, particularly in terms of leisure, cultural tourism and eco-tourism.
The Discovery Coast Pole today presents opportunities for investment in infrastructure, training and tourist / cultural facilities, such as: bus terminals, water and sewage networks, power, telephone services, airports, river port terminals, hospitals and health centers, hotel enterprises, convention centers, theme parks, restaurants and environmental protection activities.
